Welcome to the Carwarden House Community School website.
I hope that it gives you a flavour of what we do and how we work and encourages you to visit to see us in action.
We are a special school for students between the ages of 11 and 19 with a statement or Education, Health & Care Plan (EHCP) of special educational needs. Our students have a wide range of needs including moderate learning difficulties, autism, Down syndrome, speech, language and communication needs and other conditions associated with learning difficulties. We became an academy on 1st August 2014.
We have a very strong shared vision that was developed after discussions with staff, governors, students and parents.
It encapsulates all that we endeavour to instil in our students by the time they leave us to take their place in the world. Parents tell us in very strong terms that they want us to focus on developing life skills and independence in their son or daughter. Our shared vision and all that flows from that reflects that desire.
Shared Vision
“When students leave Carwarden House they should be;
ambitious, articulate, caring, confident, determined, independent, resilient, respectful, responsible and successful.”
We are highly regarded and as a result, attract students from many neighbouring local authorities.
Whatever your reason for visiting our website I encourage you to follow this up with a tour of the school. The staff and students will be delighted to meet you and tell you why we are so proud of our school.
Visitors to the school consistently offer impressive and positive feedback and I always share this with my colleagues.
I look forward to meeting you in person in the near future.
