Parent / Carer Workshop RSHE

On 9th November 2022, a parent / carer workshop was held at Carwarden House School on the subject of Relationship, Sex and Health Education.  Please see below further information as well as a copy of the Power point presentation.

As a part of student’s education at Carwarden House School, we promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive Personal, Social, Health and Economic (Life Skills) education programme. Life Skills is the curriculum subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.

We have always taught RSE to our students at Carwarden House School and continue to use varied resources and approaches based on the individual need of the young person. This is part of a wider programme of personal social and health education (Lifeskills) which includes lessons throughout the year on topics like anti-bullying, healthy friendships, keeping our bodies fit and healthy, ways to look after our mental health, keeping safe and being kind online and many more. Our aim is to carefully build on students' understandings of these things each year, and we do this using our school values of success, taking care, resilience, integrity and values, as the base of our curriculum.

The workshop covered government legislation and statutory requirements, as well as our aims of Lifeskills and what will be taught throughout the academic year.

You can also view the RSE Policy here: RSE Policy so that you can best support your child to discuss these topics at home. In addition, please see the attached guide from the DfE found here that provides further information: RSE Secondary Schools Guide for Parents

As a school community, we are committed to working in partnership with parents. If you would like to find out more or discuss any concerns, please contact me via email: philip.redman@Carwarden.surrey.sch.uk
