Year 9 Visit to Farnham Museum

Victorian Day: 9E and 9F – Farnham Museum

9E and 9F have both had excellent days at Farnham Museum recently. They all dressed up in Victorian clothes (including their teachers) and spent the day experiencing life as a pupil in a Victorian School.  Writing with ink, (needing blotting paper); writing on slate; rag-rug making; PE drills; playing with Victorian toys, and working out what certain Victorian objects might be used for, were just some of the delights of the day. Our teacher, who we had to call “Ma’am” gave us short lessons in the three R’s and demonstrated how Victorian children were disciplined (with the cane) if they didn’t display good manners and hard work and at all times.  Even the temperature made us feel we were truly being educated over 100 years ago on both occasions. All the children seemed to enjoy the day and have already shown that they learnt a lot!
